The Basics of Cervical Stabilization

EMS medical equipment has come a long way since the 1970s Over the years, cervical collars have evolved from simple soft, foam-filled devices to more rigid, complex devices that, when properly sized and fitted, can go a long way toward minimizing inadvertent movement of the cervical spine. The key principle to remember is that they must be sized correctly and fitted properly in order to work.

 Thermal Angel aids rescue efforts in rural Alaska

A man was found by Search and Rescue with no hat, gloves and he was unresponsive. The patient was immediately airlifted to arrive in my ER, with a pulse of 15, and no sensible respirations. His face had frostbite, his abdomen firm and immobile, with both arms rigid to the shoulders. His core temperature was in the mid seventies (F).
