Off-duty medic and lifeguard rescue man from Ind. lake

WHITE COUNTY, Ind. — An Indiana Beach lifeguard and an off-duty Monticello paramedic are being credited with saving an injured man Monday on Lake Shafer.

According to Monticello Fire Department Lt. Craig Green, lifeguard Austin Goodman was at his post around 5 p.m. Monday when he heard the sound of two personal water crafts colliding. He turned to see an injured man in the water.

At the same time, Lt. Green says an off-duty fireman and paramedic, Matt Schroeder, also witnessed the crash.
